DIY Green Snakes Reputation Dress: Tutorial for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour
Are you ready for it? 🐍 When I got the chance to see Taylor Swift again, I knew I had to create an outfit that would capture the essence of her iconic Reputation era. With Taylor’s love for snakes as my inspiration, I designed a dazzling green snakes dress that turned heads at the Indy Night One show (because I’m clowning that she will make a green version, too). Best of all, I made it using items you can easily find on Amazon!

Want to recreate this look? I’ve got you covered with a full breakdown of the materials and process below. Everything you need is linked in my Amazon storefront here.
Step 1: Gathering Supplies
My Swifite friend and I decided on a blend of Reputation plus 1989 eras. To bring our visions to life, we needed a few key materials, all conveniently available on Amazon.
Here’s what I used for mine:
- Green Sequin Ribbon: The sparkling, stretchy fabric that served as the base of the dress, giving it that signature Reputation glam.
- Backup Green Ribbon: The darker shaded snakes for depth.
- Rhinestone Ribbon: The stars of the show! These stick-on sparkle embellishments outline the edgy, snake-like effect so we can all shimmer.
- Fabric Glue and glue dots: For securing the appliques to the dress and ensuring they stayed put during all the dancing and singing! Anti-fraying glue helped keep some of the edges neat.
- Black Sequin Dress Base – skirt and top: I decided to make a two-piece black outifit as the foundation to build upon, instead of the one-leg outfit that Taylor uses. I cut a sleeve off of an asymmetrical mesh crop top!
- Official tights: Taylor and many stars swear by Capezio tights, and now I do, too! You need two pairs: the shimmer kind and the fishnets on top. I bought these straight from Capezio, but you may have luck on Amazon sometimes. I used Suntan color.

Step 2: Assembling the Dress on a form or mannequin
- Creating the form: My friend and I wrapped each other up in saran wrap then layers of duct tape, in order to make a body form of ourselves in which to create the dress on. This allows it to stay stretched so that it will best fit come showtime.
- Creating the Base: I draped the green sequin ribbon over the black base dress, pinning it in place with glue dots before cutting it to fit. This created a sleek silhouette that sparkled with every move.
- Adding the Rhinestones: I positioned the snake self-adhesive rhinestones as an outline to the green snakes. You pull the paper-backing off and use GemTac glue to secure it in place.
- Final Touches: After the appliques were set, I added a few of the darker green snakes (that aren’t outlined with rhinestones) and let the dress dry. We did a final fitting to make sure everything looked perfect!
Step 3: The Finished Look
The result was everything I dreamed of: a shimmering green snakes dress that perfectly captured the edgy vibe of Taylor’s Reputation era. The best part? Doing it with a friend! We documented the entire process in a series of TikToks!

Final Thoughts
Will Taylor ever use a green snakes version of her Reputation outfit? Only time will tell. Perhaps with Taylor’s Version of her album someday and on a future tour, as our Eras Tour legs are coming to an end!
I had so much fun creating this DIY dress, and it was a hit at the concert! Whether you’re prepping for the next tour or just love DIY fashion projects, I hope this guide helps you make something special.
